A vibrant place
Asociación Ampush is not a conventional retreat center or a tourist resort.
It is a place on the family’s land, created to keep culture, nature and human connection alive.
Every contribution supports the family, helps preserve this place and contributes to the continued development of the project.
What a day might feel like
The day often begins before sunrise. Slowly, the rainforest comes to life. The aroma of guayusa drifts from the kitchen as the first rays of sunlight reach the trees.
After breakfast, the weather, the season and the group shape what the day may bring. Sometimes the path leads deep into the rainforest, sometimes to the river or into the kitchen to cook together. On other days, there is time for conversations, reading or simply observing life around the finca.
There is no strict schedule. Some days are active, others are quiet. It is precisely this change of pace that makes the stay special.
Time takes on a different meaning
After a few days, your sense of time often begins to change.
Without constant connectivity, appointments or traffic, there is space for things that often get lost in everyday life: conversations, silence, cooking together, or simply sitting by the river.
The rainforest sets the rhythm, not the clock.
Many visitors describe a sense of calm, clarity and relaxation they have not experienced in years. Some also report vivid, clear dreams and an unusually restful quality of sleep.
Simplicity
The accommodation is intentionally simple. Guests sleep in a traditional Shuar house on wooden beds with simple mattresses and mosquito nets, in hammocks, or, depending on availability, in one of the basic rooms in the large kitchen house. There is no hotel-style comfort or luxury infrastructure. Washing is done in the river or with rainwater.
Many guests find this simplicity liberating. It creates space for connection, nature and a daily life with fewer distractions.
Getting here
We recommend spending 2–3 days in Baños after arriving in Ecuador. This gives you time to settle in, adjust to the climate and surroundings, and get a first feel for the country.
We are happy to recommend suitable accommodation and help you find hotels or hostels.
Philip and Thomas can personally accompany participants from Baños. From there, we continue together by bus or taxi.
Pick-up from Quito is also possible. If preferred, we can arrange a comfortable private van transfer from Quito.
Individual stays
Outside scheduled retreat dates, individual and longer stays can be arranged upon request.
This option is for people who would like to experience the place, the rainforest and everyday life in the Amazon at their own pace.
As availability and on-site support may vary, each stay and its cost are arranged individually.
External groups and retreats
The Asociación Ampush can also be made available by arrangement for independently organized retreats, workshops or small groups.
The setting is particularly well suited to nature-based, cultural or personal development retreats in a simple and authentic environment.
If desired, on-site guidance, local support and the involvement of Pablo, René and Thomas can be arranged.

We recommend spending 2–3 days in Baños before the retreat, giving you time to arrive at a relaxed pace and adjust to the climate and surroundings.
